Posted in Events

The Centre for European Constitutional Law, Fair Trials and partners from across the EU will present the findings of our 2-year long research, “A Measure of Last Resort? The Practice of Pre-Trial Detention Decision-Making in the EU,” and will launch the publication of our regional report based on data from 10 EU Member States. The event, hosted by MEP Birgit Sippel, will be held on 26 May, 9:00-11:00 am in the European Parliament at the Altiero Spinelli Building, AIE-1.

Discussions will feature video case studies and first-hand accounts from researchers to delve into the urgent problem of excessive reliance on PTD in the EU and its impact on mutual recognition and justice, and will explore possible regional responses. Confirmed speakers include policy makers and experts from the EU Commission, Parliament and Council, as well as from the European Committee for the Prevention of Torture.
